The first problem - Cell phone in a hot car.

So here is my first problem.  I need to be able to leave my cell phone in a hot car during the crazy hot St. Louis summer months.  Last year I learned that the iPhone doesn't stand up well to this amount of heat unprotected.  Now, a normal person would just try a cooler or something and see if it worked but of course that isn't good enough for me.  I need a way to verify that a given system works.  So, I need a temperature logger.

I looked quickly on Amazon and found that they few that were there were kind of expensive and generally got poor reviews.  Where does this leave me?  To build my own of course!

One simple problem (keeping my phone cool) is about to send me down a path of building a battery powered temperature logging device.  Darn this engineer's brain indeed!

Stay tuned for more updates on how I plan to do this - I think it will be a fun one.

(scenes from next time: ... the TI MSP430 chip is cheap and has an onboard temperature sensor ...)
